How to permanently delete your TapID account — what is removed, what is retained, and how to submit a request.

1. Your right to delete your account

You can permanently delete your TapID account and the personal data associated with it at any time. Deletion is available to every TapID user regardless of plan, and you do not need to give a reason.

For your privacy, we respond to every deletion request the same way whether or not an account exists for the email address provided.

2. How to request deletion

There are two ways to delete your account:

  • In the TapID app: open Settings → Account → Delete Account and follow the confirmation steps.
  • By email: send a deletion request to [email protected] from the email address registered to your TapID account, or use the deletion form at thetapid.com/account-deletion.

Every request follows the same four steps:

  • Submit your account email address.
  • Confirm the request through the secure link we send to that inbox.
  • Review a summary of exactly what will be removed.
  • Give final approval — deletion is then permanent.

3. What is permanently deleted

Once you confirm deletion, the following is permanently removed and cannot be recovered:

  • Profile data — name, email, contact information, job details, bio and your public TapID profile.
  • Images — profile photo and cover images.
  • Leads and scanned business-card information.
  • Subscription and payment records held in your account.
  • Tap/scan history and analytics.
  • Passkeys and login credentials.

4. What is retained

A limited set of information survives deletion, only where necessary:

  • De-identified audit logs kept for security and compliance purposes — these can no longer be linked to you.
  • Records we are legally required to keep for accounting or dispute-resolution obligations, retained only for the legally required period.

Your physical NFC devices are not affected by account deletion. The hardware is released from your account and can be reassigned or re-activated with a new profile at any time.

5. Important note for organisation administrators

If you are the administrator of a company workspace, deleting your admin account deletes the entire organisation — including all associated team members' workspace data — not just your individual account. Transfer ownership to another administrator first if the organisation should continue.

6. Timing

Deletion takes effect once you give final approval in the confirmation flow. Residual copies in encrypted backups are purged on the backups' normal rotation cycle. Legally required records are kept only as long as the law demands and are then destroyed.

Enter the email address registered to your TapID account. We'll send a secure confirmation link to that inbox — nothing is deleted until you approve the final step.

Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. For your privacy, we respond the same way whether or not an account exists for the address you enter. Organisation admins: deleting your account deletes the entire organisation.
